Why CMYK is more popular than RGB?
People at the back may still be squinting, not just because they cannot see the topic, but because they also cannot make any meaning of some strange alphabet appearing in capital letters on a screen. Don’t sweat it; I made provision for us all to learn.

The printing business is an interesting industry to thrive in, and just like in the city of Dubai, anyone can make a name for himself/herself. However, you must learn the details and theatrics of the industry. To start with, there is a need to understand colors and the surface materials that the prints would be transferred onto. Understanding types of ink, ink types, and the choice of surface that would best suit them is stealth.

In today’s post, we shall understand color palettes: the types, where they are applicable, and why they are applicable in their fields of interest.
As we proceed, you must bear in mind that this article has been put together by The Watchtower, a web design agency in Dubai and a leading name in the business of web design and development in Dubai.

What is a color palette?

A color palette is a combination of colors commonly used by UI designers when designing a user interface. While artists can easily relate to this as a platter that has multiple colors of paint, it is simply used to randomly pick a color or create a new shade of color to actualize the creativity of the graphic designer or artist.

When used correctly, color palettes can help form the visual foundation of a brand for consistency and make the user interface more appealing.

What is CMYK?

According to Wikipedia, the CMYK color model is a subtractive color model based on the CMY color model, used in color printing, and is also used to describe the printing process itself. CMYK refers to the four ink plates used in some color printing: cyan, magenta, yellow, and key.

What is RGB?

Wikipedia best describes the RGB as an additive type of color model in which the red, green, and blue primary colors of light are added together in various ways to reproduce a broad array of colors. The model's name comes from the initials of the three additive primary colors: red, green, and blue.

Why should you know the difference between CMYK and RGB?

Fundamentally, CMYK is better for printed goods, whereas RGB is better for the internet and digital communications. In contrast to CMYK, which is a subtractive concept of color, most design fields acknowledge RGB as the main color.

Print marketing materials may not have the same colors as your digital mockup if you don't understand the fundamental distinction between RGB and CMYK. There are restrictions on how to use each of these two distinctly different color models.

For instance, a poster or booklet printed from an RGB file will almost certainly have the wrong colors. Fixing this issue might be expensive and time-consuming, hence the need to identify the difference between CMYK and RGB.

Why is CMYK more popular than RGB?

Before we get into that, I think I owe it to you to clarify how sensitive each color palette is. Please note that while CMYK uses a subtractive color model, RGB uses an additive one. This act means that in the absence of light, RGB employs a mixture of all the primary colors and black, called white.

On the other hand, CMYK uses black as a mixture of colored inks and white as the backdrop color of the print. The RGB color model is used by graphic designers and print vendors for any sort of media that transmits light, like computer screens.

Because digital media emits color as red, green, or blue light, RGB is perfect for designs.

CMYK is popular with the people in the printing business; likewise, common things around you. You can find its use in brochures, souvenirs, clothing, wallpapers, and the like compared to the RGB, which requires a beam of light to enjoy its full manifest.
